2007 Sim season

So after computer problems struck in the middle of my last sim season, I lost all the files. I did not feel like starting all over for quite some time. However, I'm trying to get back into this game. Having run 8 races in the last sim season, I guess I can call that a full season. Below are the results from each race and the final standings will stand as listed. in the end, my first season with this mod found me finishing in 2nd place, a close 5 points back from the leader. Having dominated the individual races the way I did, that was not the result I was looking for but I'll take it I guess.

Evergreen Speedway - Monroe, Wa.

I began my season here at home. Evergreen Speedway, Monroe, Washington. With the homefield advantage, I easily took the pole here. The car was running good and the tires were lasting a long time. I was able to dominate this one and take home the first win of the season and the early points lead by 7 over second place.

Portland Speedway - Portland, Or

This track does not exist any more, but I still run it mostly because I can and partly because I hate seeing a local track die. This place is a tight, flat, small almost circle of an oval. I had a good car for practice and took my second pole here. It was starting too look like I was dominating the series. The race was going much the same as the first one, with me up front dominating once again. However, I mad a foolish choice while lapping some slower cars late in the race and found myself deep in the field after contact with a backmarker and not enough time to make it up. In the end I would bring the car home 23rd, 1 lap down after leading 92 of the 100 laps. Not the finish I was looking for after the way things started out. But hey, it's racing right? I dropped to 6th place in the points standings, -43 points behind the leader.

Phoenix Intl. Speedway - Phoenix, Ne

Race 3 found me in Phoenix, Nv. I have never been a fan of this track in simulator form. This place is hard! I was once again fastest in practice, and took yet another pole. Looking for a little revenge after my mistake at Portland, I started this one thinking to play it a little safer. In the end, I took home win number 2 as I lead flag to flag. I jumped back to 2nd in the points, -26 behind the leader.

I wish my practice results would translate to race results. I once again led practice and took the pole here on my way to what I thought was a easy victory. But once again I made another bad choice in traffic. Sometimes you just don't have enough time to react. I wound up wrecking the car and could not finish the race. I would finish 26th, -36 laps down after leading the first 50 laps. I'm still working on that patience thing. Once again I plummet in the points, falling to 4th, -34 behind the leader.

Ace Speedway - Altamahaw, NC

For race 5 I decided to run Ace Speedway. This is a little 4/10th mile oval in North Carolina. Neat little place, I had a good car right off the trailer. I went on to easily lead practice and take yet another pole. Call me the simulated Ryan Newman! This time I was able to turn my early results into race results as I went on to dominate the race leading 98 of the 100 laps. After my 3rd win of the season and another big shuffle in the points, I sit in 2nd place just -22 points behind the leader.

Illiana Speedway - Shererville, In

Um, . . . wow! Fun place, rough race! I could not find a setup I really liked here, and finally just gave up and ended up with a "good enough" setup that would run real good for about 35 laps and them blow the right front off. Hopefully I could be far enough out front to hold on. Once again, fastest in practice and another pole for the 68 car. Starting the race the car did exactly what I thought it would, ran away for about 35 laps and then the right front went away on me. It seemed like no amount of nursing it would work and I soon found myself falling back through the field. After dropping back to somewhere around 10th I tangled with some traffic and someone went around bringing out a yellow. This was a prime opportunity for me to put tires on it! The pit stop would put me back in 21st for the restart, but the only car on the track with fresh tires. For the last 5o laps of the race I ran right up through the field and retook the lead with 15 laps to go and still had enough rubber after a track bar adjustment to hold on until the end for another win. I moved closer to the leader, only -10 points back now but still trailing.

So. Georgia mtrsprts park - Cecil, Ga.

Headed south I went with a little Southern Georgia 1/2 mile track. A little "D" shaped track, which I will say I have never run good on one of these in this game, I don't know why. The car was good right off the trailer, and I led practice and sat on yet another pole. Once the race started I jumped out to an early lead and held it through the half way point. Just after half way the yellow would come out. I took this opportunity to get fresh tires. This would drop me back in the field a ways, but with plenty of time to make it up I was not too worried. During my run through the field I tangled with a lapper and got a little fender damage, but nothing to slow me down too much. I ran down the lead, but while trying to rub him off on a lapper I tangled with the lapper losing several positions before getting it gathered up. I was able to run the leader down one more time, but did not have enough left to make a run at him. The last 20 laps were rather uneventful, as I followed along in second waiting until the last couple laps to make one last shot at it. The yellow came out with 4 to go, locking me in second, but I'll take it as it moves me into the lead in the points +24 over second place. All in all, a good run.

Lonesome Pine Raceway - Coeburn, Va.

Nice little oval, tough to find grip coming out. The car was ok off the trailer, I didn't change much. Thought I had it under control for qualifying, laid down a good lap only to be bumped to second. This is the first track I didn't set pole! Starting outside front row I jumped right out front and started marching away from the pack. On a 3/8th mile track it doesn't take long to find the lappers. I started working through them trying to keep some distance between me and second. The caution would come out on lap 25 or so giving me a chance to catch my breath for a second. While checking on my tires the engine let go, under yellow! I would finish this one 35th, dropping out of the points lead. That was short lived! I now sit second, -5 behind the leader.
