HWR Hang On For Top-3 - |
Yakima, Washington –8-16-08 – The #68 HayWire Motorsports / KMB Design Groups / Print-NW / Ringers Gloves / Mauritsen Enterprises Toyota Camry struggled through a very hot night and some poor handling during the 6th race of the Limited Late Model Racing Series 2008 season, coming out with a solid 3rd place finish. Having dominated the previous event at Ephrata Raceway Park, the #68 HayWire Motorsports team arrived at Yakima Speedway as a strong contender. But this day was looking decidedly different for the Tacoma based team as they struggled to find the right setup for their #68 Toyota Camry. Once qualifying was done, the team found themselves missing the first trophy dash of the season, qualifying 6th, outside the trophy dash by just a couple tenths of a second. “I’m kind of bummed about missing the Dash,” said driver “Terrible” Tim McDougald, “We had a pretty lengthy streak going there. But all good things come to an end, right? Guess we’ll just start a new streak.” Once the sun went down over Yakima Speedway, the temperature did not follow suit. Starting the Main Event the temperatures were still hovering around 90. The heat and the unfamiliar track left the #68 HayWire Motorsports team still searching for the right setup. But a perfect invert placed the #68 KMB Design Groups / Print-NW / Ringers Gloves / Mauritsen Enterprises Toyota Camry on the pole for the start of the race. “I was a little relieved when I saw the lineup,” Said McDougald, “Starting up front makes it a little easier.” After the order settled down, the #68 Toyota Camry was holding down the 4th spot until a late race spin by the #21 of Gerard would move McDougald up to 3rd, where he would stay until the checkered flag. “It was a great finish in these conditions,” said McDougald, “Any time you can grab a top-3 is good. On a day like this it’s even better. I think we may have had a 5th place car, so that was a great finish. We’ll take the points and move on; I think we can perform good for the last two races.” The #68 HayWire Motorsports / KMB Design Groups / Print-NW / Ringers Gloves / Mauritsen Enterprises Toyota Camry will head to Port Angeles Speedway in 3 weeks, where they won earlier this season. After that, the team heads back to Wenatchee, where they found rain shortening their day last time. Look for the #68 KMB Design Groups / Print-NW / Ringers Gloves / Mauritsen Enterprises Toyota Camry to get back on track after a hot weekend in the desert as they look to finish up the 2008 LLMRS championship season. And be sure to catch the #92 RPM Sales & Service / Old West Graphics / Ringers Gloves / KMB Design Groups / Mauritsen Enterprises Pontiac Grand Prix on the Whelen All-American series schedule at Evergreen Speedway. |
