HWR Ready For Second Half -

Graham, Washington –

7-22-08 – The #68 HayWire Motorsports / KMB Design Groups / Print-NW / Ringers Gloves / Mauritsen Enterprises Toyota Camry is all set for the second half of the Limited Late Model Racing Series 2008 championship chase.

After opening the 2008 LLMRS championship season by winning the first Trophy Dash of the year with the brand new #68 HayWire Motorsports Toyota Camry and then following up a few races later with a Main Event win; placing the first Toyota Camry in the winners circle in the Northwest, the HayWire Motorsports team now shift their focus to the second half of the season. With a couple of their goals met early on this year, the focus becomes finishing what they started. “We opened up the season kind of strong,” said driver “Terrible” Tim McDougald. “We had a little success, but mixed with it some problems. That left us playing catch up. So now we need to be very consistent and hope for a little help. It’s all about finishing races from here on out.”

The Tacoma, Washington based team stands 4th in the 2008 LLMRS championship standings at the half way mark, and hopes to move up by the season’s end. With strong runs early in the season coupled with a second half that sees the series return to tracks for a second running, the prospects are high. “We ran great at Ephrata, but had problems with the engine,” said McDougald. “We were strong at Wenatchee, we won at Port Angeles. Now we go back to each those tracks and I think we have a great shot at another win and at the very least, some top-5’s. So I think we’re in good shape from here on out.”

The one unknown for McDougald and his team is the ½ mile track at Yakima, Washington. The LLMRS makes its first stop at this track, and the first time the series has ever been there, on August 16th, 2008. Not only has the LLMRS never visited this track before, but McDougald has never been there either. “I know a couple of our drivers have run there before with other series,” said McDougald. “But I’ve never seen the place. I’m looking forward to going there and I’m hoping my luck holds true. I had never seen the ½ mile at Spokane until last year when we went there and I won the Trophy Dash. I had never seen the 3/8 mile at Roseburg until last year when we went there and I had a top-5 going until the engine gave up. So if it keeps going like it has, I think we are in great shape for Yakima. Beginners luck, right?” Coupled with McDougald’s performances on tracks he’s never seen before is the information he garners from his team who has raced there in other series’. “Yea, I have an advantage with my team,” said McDougald. “Tommy ran there with the LMCS a few years back, so they’ve seen the place, they know how to get around it. I had that same insight when I went to Roseburg last year and it helped so much. I can bounce questions on the right line off of Tommy, I can refer to Dad about the setup and if I need it I can put Tommy in the car for a couple laps. So it’s a pretty big help, I have a great team.”

As the season closes in on the 2008 championship, the #68 HayWire Motorsports / KMB Design Groups / Print-NW / Ringers Gloves / Mauritsen Enterprises Toyota Camry team set new goals to finish out the year. Goal number one is to repeat in Winners Circle. Having already staked a claim as the first Toyota in Winners Circle in the Northwest, the HayWire Motorsports team would like to solidify that mark with another win. “I think another Main Event win is within our reach,” said McDougald. “We have been strong at every race so far, so it’s not out of the question.” Next on the list would be a repeat win at Port Angeles, a race the #68 HayWire Motorsports Toyota Camry dominated earlier this season. And the last item on the list of goals is to finish the season in the top 3 in the championship standings. McDougald added, “Last year we had a lot of bad luck that put us deep in the points and we rallied back to finish the year 6th. Right now we sit 4th, to finish anywhere short of 3rd means we missed the mark. I know we can do it, but it’s definitely time to get to work. This is the point in the season where you start to feel a sense of urgency. It’s go time.”

Look for the #68 KMB Design Groups / Print-NW / Ringers Gloves / Mauritsen Enterprises Toyota Camry to post some strong finishes and challenge for another win as the HayWire Motorsports team continues their run in the 2008 LLMRS championship season.
