Troubles Plauge First Run. . . |
Tacoma, Washington –4-21-2010 – The HayWire Racing team experienced a tough outing for the first race of the season with the #68 KMB Design / Hargis Engineers / Print-NW / Ringers Gloves / Cornwell Tools Toyota Camry and driver “Terrible” Tim McDougald. As Mother Nature once again dealt a rain filled day for the second scheduled event of the Limited Late Model division at Southsound Speedway, the HayWire Racing team took advantage of it one more time to fix an unexpected problem they found at the last minute. Working on the car until late into the night; the team finally loaded up for the rescheduled race to take place the following day. But once at the track it was immediately apparent the problem was still there. “We fought with the clutch yesterday and we thought we had it under control” said driver “Terrible” Tim. “But once we unloaded we knew right away it was going to be a long day.” With no answer in sight and resources limited at the track, the team decided to simply get through the night and collect what points they could. “Certainly it isn’t the way we wanted to start off” said “Terrible” Tim. “We did this once before, spotting the field a race. It makes it tough right away; you spend all year playing catch up.” Taking the green flag in the Main Event was the highlight of the night for the small family run team. But more trouble followed shortly after. With only 2 laps of racing completed, and the field under yellow, “Terrible” Tim and his #68 KMB Design / Hargis Engineers / Print-NW / Ringers Gloves / Cornwell Tools Toyota Camry would spin into the infield as the field came to take the green. “I guess we lost the lower radiator hose. All the water dumped on my tires and around she went” said “Terrible” Tim. With the engine problems coupled with the clutch problems, the night was over for the #68 KMB Design / Hargis Engineers / Print-NW / Ringers Gloves / Cornwell Tools Toyota Camry. But the team will be back for the next event, and the troubles should be worked out. |
